Exeter Dyslexia Customer Privacy Notice
Exeter Dyslexia carries out specialist diagnostic assessments for dyslexia to children and young
people aged 8 to 16 years of age.
This privacy notice tells you what to expect us to do with your personal information.

What information we collect, use, and why
We collect or use the following information as part of diagnostic assessments for dyslexia:
• Names and contact details of child being assessed
• Names and contact details for parents or carers
• Gender
• Pronoun preferences
• Date of birth
• Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) or additional support information
(includes reasonable adjustments and special educational needs and disabilities)
• Welfare information (includes family and home life circumstances and history)
• Attendance and reason for absence data
• Exam results and qualifications
• Progress reports
• Exclusion, suspension and behavioural information
We also collect or use the following information:
• Health information
Lawful bases and data protection rights
Our lawful bases for collecting or using personal information diagnostic assessment for
dyslexia are:
• Consent - we have permission from the parent or carer and the child being assessed after
we gave you all the relevant information. All of your data protection rights may apply, except
the right to object. To be clear, you do have the right to withdraw your consent at any time.
Where we get personal information from
• Directly from the child or young person
• Parents or carers
• Teachers
• Reports provided by the parent/carer that have been written by other professionals such as
educational psychologist, speech and language therapist etc.
How long we keep information
Personal information will be retained by us for as long as is reasonably necessary to provide our
services and products. All test results and the contents of any report are strictly confidential, and
will be stored securely, in line with the key principles of the Data Protection Act and GDPR. Test
papers and other confidential information will be securely destroyed after 12 months and PDF
copies of reports will be deleted after 2 years
Who we share information with
Reports will only be shared with the person commissioning the dyslexia assessment most often
the parent or carer. Exeter Dyslexia does not share the report with the child’s school or
educational establishment. This is the responsibility of the parent or carer.

How to complain
If you have any concerns about our use of your personal data, you can make a complaint to us
using the contact details at the top of this privacy notice.
If you remain unhappy with how we’ve used your data after raising a complaint with us, you can
also complain to the ICO.
